Jannie Bell was born September 14, 1928 in Bessemer, Alabama to the late Gus and Jannie Bell Flood.
She accepted Christ and later found community and membership at Beulah Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. E.D. Harris and now with Rev. Leon May, Sr. At Beulah she served as a member of the choir and faithfully on the Missionary Board of the church.
Jannie was joined in union to Wade Kelley, Jr. on December 14, 1947 and had five children. She later married Sid Cowans, Jr. on May 14, 1966 with whom she had two children.
She was preceded in death by her parents, six brothers, one son, a daughter-in-law and two grandchildren. Her brothers were Jack Gardner, Alfred Tabb, Earnest Tabb, Robert Flood, Grant Flood and Willie Harris. Her son was Roosevelt Kelley, daughter-in-law, Regina Ivy Kelley and grandsons, James McCoy, Jr. and Marcus Perdue.
Jannie leaves to cherish her memory her children: Patricia (John) Spillman, Balinda (Freddie) Purifoy, Joe Ann (Samuel) Loftin, Shelia (Aundra) Jackson, Jennifer (Carl) Harris, and Michael Cowans; a sister, Arbalia Norwood and her brother, Albert (Martha) Harris, Jr., fifteen grandchildren, twenty one great grandchildren, one great great grandchild, sister-in-law, Louise Hill, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
