Alando Walker Obituary

Alando Walker was born to the late Mr. David Walker, Sr., and Mrs. Plyna Walker. He confessed Christ at an early age and joined Sixth Avenue Baptist Church in Bessemer, Alabama. He was educated in the Jefferson County School System where he attended Wenonah High School (Class of 1972). Peda, or Pumpkin, as he was affectionately called, had many childhood hobbies, which included baseball (he played on the community team), basketball, and spending time with his grandparents, Hubert and Amanda Spearman. He loved their farm in Bexar, Alabama. There, he learned to drive the tractor and pickup truck. These hobbies birthed his desire to become a professional truck driver.  His career as a truck driver was a true reflection of Alando’s personality. He loved living a life of adventure, exploring the country, and meeting new people. Alando never met a stranger. He had the most entertaining anecdotes about his encounters with people and places as a truck driver. He, eventually, retired from AAMCO Oil Company after many years of service. He received numerous safety awards while employed with the company. Alando brought joy to every occasion. He had a way of lighting up the room when he arrived. His laugh was hearty enough to fill any room and he had a way of making everyone else smile. He did not believe in the concept of aging. He took pride in dressing fashionably, looking debonair, enjoying life, and staying current. He was full of wisdom and he loved sharing stories with his family. Leaving to cherish his memories are the following:  his sons, Mr. Rashad (Tyrandica) Griffin of Tuscaloosa, AL, Mr. Brandon Walker of Augusta, GA, daughter, Ms. Alana Walker of Arlington, VA and Mr. Landon Walker of Atlanta, GA. Grandchildren: Rashida, Jazaria, Xavier, Rashad, Kaylin, Dylan and A-mora. Siblings: Stephen Walker, Fairfield, AL; Katrien Scarbrough, Birmingham, AL; Pamela (Sherord) Spence, Odenville, AL; Cynthia (Roosevelt) McClendon, Fairfield, AL; Darryl (Jannie) Walker, Birmingham, AL and David Walker, Atlanta, GA. Also mourning Alando's passing is a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, cousins, family, neighbors, classmates and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. David Walker, Sr., Mrs. Plyna Walker and his sister, Ms. Denise Walker Graham
