Annie Harris Obituary

Annie Jane Richardson Harris was born January 1, 1927 in Eutaw, AL., Greene County, to the late Joe and Mary Bell Richardson. Both parents died before she was 9 years old and she was raised by her grandparents, Jimmy and Florence Dunlap. At the age of 19 she moved to Birmingham where she met and later married the late Arthur Lee Smith. To their unions born 5 children. She joined Macedonia Baptist Church a few years later where she was baptized and served faithfully over the years in many areas. She especially worked in the Missionary Society, was a Sunday school teacher, church secretary, and superintendent for years. She loved serving God and was passionate and faithful about the positions she held. She raised her children with the respect and admiration of the Lord. She was a dedicated, loving and caring mother, wife, and friend to many. After her divorce in 1987, she remained  faithful at Macedonia. She continued to live in Overton, working daily and maintaining her home. She was a strong willed woman, mowing her own lawn, cutting shrubbery , and she even painted her house. Some years later she met Jessie Harris. They latter was married for 21 years and she relocated to Irondale and began attending Mount Calvary Baptist Church where she also became actively involved. After 21 years of marriage, he preceded her in death in 2019. She was the best mom, best grandma, best great-grandma and best friend. She was kind, wise, and funny. She was loved very much by us all.
