Betty Jean Harris Yow

Mrs. Betty Jean Harris Yow, daughter of the late Randall Rollins Harris and Jimmie Mae Love Harris, was born in Birmingham, Alabama on June 11, 1946. She was the fourth of seven children. Betty accepted Christ into her life and united with the Saint Matthew Missionary Baptist Church under the pastorate of the late Rev. O.V. Mosley. She served her church faithfully, taking great joy in doing whatever was asked of her. She was a retired nurse and enjoyed cooking and baking for her family and friends. Betty was married for 58 years to Preston Yow, Sr. Four children were born to this union. She departed this life on Wednesday March 23, 2022.She was preceded in death by a daughter, Deborah Joyce Yow; and siblings, Elizabeth Harris Taylor and Rosa Lee Harris.  She leaves to cherish her memories: a loving and devoted husband, Preston Yow, Sr.; Children: Victoria Yow Burts, Preston (Vinetta) Yow, Jr. and Anthony (Mattie) Yow, all of Birmingham, AL.; Grandchildren: Ronique, Rashaad, Jeremy, Preston III, Jameria, Jazmine, Antionette, Narmada, Briana, Asia, and 26 great-grandchildren , all of Birmingham, All; Siblings: Randall (Mary) Harris of Birmingham, Jimmie Lee Harris of Boston, MA., Mattie Clark of Boston, MA., and Mamie Lee Daniel of Cleveland, OH.; Brother-in-law, Johnnie Taylor, Jr.; Sisters-in-law: Ruby Halbert, Louise Harris, and Queen Yow; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and her St. Matthew Church Family.
