On June 28th, 2005, God created a kindred, generous, loving baby boy that embarked his touch on many lives. Dalton entered this world at Brookwood Medical Center in Birmingham, Alabama where he fought underlying obstacles to stay alive. Even though this was a critical and egregious day, the joy and peace he brought upon our lives eradicated the difficulty of his birth. This was only the beginning of his journey as a precious son, an overprotective brother, an affectionate grandson, a charismatic nephew, and a loving uncle. Dalton confessed Jesus Christ as his Lord and savior on his birthday at Coppins Chapel African Methodist Episcopal in Quinton, Alabama by Reverend Alonzo Colvin. Through this, Dalton was governed and protected by the Lord’s grace and annointance. Dalton was a devotion of warmth, benevolence of innocence, heart of gold, and a smile of joy come the morning. He was a passionate learner, an empowering leader, a motivating influencer, and an impeccable athlete. Dalton always had a passion for learning and discovering the finer things in life. Dalton began his scholastic journey at Council Elementary School where he dominated and excelled academically. He continued his educational career path at Wylam K-8 where he was the President of his 8thGrade Class, won first place in several Math Derbies, won Academic Bowls, was the recipient of the Principal Award and Highest GPA Award upon graduation. He later entered Jackson Olin High School where he established long lasting relationships with staff and students. Dalton ascended into the Heavens at University of Alabama Hospital on January 17, 2021 at 3:36 am and leaves behind a dedicated, devoted and determined mother Daphne LaJean Hawkins; caring father Lawrence Woods; loving brother Darius Hawkins, selfless sister Diahmin Hawkins. He was deeply loved by his grandparents Mr. Curtis Joe Hawkins and Debra Jean Hawkins; an amazing aunt Denedra Hawkins; a cousin Dalaila Hawkins that is very protective; and one little beautiful niece Londyn Hawkins Ford. He will also be cherished by his aunts Georgia, Shelia, Regina, Beverly, Vanesa, Myrtle, Mary Grace, Corrine, Darlene and his great aunts and uncles Erma Jean, Annette, Duke, Raymond, and William. The love of his grandparents Eva and James Jones will always remain along with his host of other relatives and friends. Although his life was short lived, his impact and legacy will forever live through us. Dalton fought to be in this world, and he fought a good fight during his last breath to stay in it. Dalton is a survivor, a warrior, an uplifting spirit that will continue to capture entities of joy, happiness, generosity, and love to those around him.
