Jackie Haze was born to the late Will and Ethel Thelma Haze November 4, 1948 in Fairfield, Alabama at Lloyd Noland Hospital. Jackie confessed Christ in 1982 at Mt. Canaan Full Gospel under the pastors Dr. Willie B. and Patricia O’neal. He served faithfully as an usher and later became a faithful deacon until his health began to fail. He was a father figure and mentor to many young men and women while serving at Mt. Canaan Full Gospel and in the community. Jackie was a gentle giant. He attended Westfield Elementary and later A.H. Parker High School where he graduated in 1967. He furthered his education at Lawson State Community College where he earned his certificate in Computer Technology. Jackie was employed with Birmingham Ornamental Iron for 20 years. He also served with his wife on the board of Keep Birmingham Beautiful (KBB).His father and mother Will and Thelma Haze and his brother Colquitt (Carl) Haze preceded him in death. He leaves to cherish his memories: A loving and caring wife Rosetta Freely-Haze. Six children, Thaddeus Moland (Tracee), Vernon Moland, Rico May (Marva), Freddie Merriweather, Wyteria Mott (James), and Tameka Haze-Weaver (preceded in death by her husband, Marlon.), two sisters; Ethelrine Walton and Jenise Haze. A brother; Billy Harris (Jenette). A host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and several Godchildren. Visitation will be Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m. Graveside Service will be Friday at 12 Noon at Elmwood Cemetery. The public can come to the service but you will have to remain at your car whereas only the immediate family will be at the tent. Live streaming of the service will be available via Facebook on the Brooks Family Funeral Home INC page. A Service of Remembrance will be announced at a later date.
