Deacon Willie C. Russell affectionately known as ¨Bill¨ was born on May 11, 1947 to the late Claude Russell Sr. and Mrs. Carrie Russell Adams in Bessemer, Alabama. He and his siblingsJoe, Claude Jr.(deceased), Earl, and Priscilla at an early age accepted Christ and attended Jerusalem Baptist Church with their parents. Bill matriculated at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic School and graduated from Paul William Dunbar High School in Bessemer. Mr. Russell joined the United States Army in the 1960ś and served in the Vietnam War with an honorable discharge at his last tour station being Hunter Army Airfield in Savannah, Georgia. He was an entrepreneur and striving businessman who owned Russell Painting Company and retired from Koppers Industries after many years of dedicated service. While living in Savannah, he met the love of his life Evelyn Coleman Russell. To this beautiful union of twenty-six years two lovely daughters were born by the names of Stacy Saria and Tiffany Monique Russell. They built a marriage based on love, faith, and devotion. The Russell’s both joined and served faithfully in numerous capacities at Faith Christian Center in Hueytown, Alabama. Bill was a doorkeeper for the Lord and greeted everyone in the church with a smile as a church usher. He faithfully attended all bible studies and shared Godś 'word. He served the church in many auxiliaries and was ordained a devoted Deacon at Faith Christian Center. Deacon Russell loved the Lord and his family. He was a fervent, inquisitive, compassionate, and dedicated father, grandfather, great- grandfather, brother, uncle, disabled veteran, and friend to everyone. Bill displayed the true epitome of a classic man being impeccably dressed, mild mannered, and God fearing. He was the glue that kept the family together over every and anything. On Sunday, December 13, 2020, God needed another soldier in his kingdom and released Deacon Willie Russell from the battle of pain and labor to his anointed mansion and kingdom of reward. He will be greeted with open arms by his wife Evelyn, his mother Madea Carrie, and other preceded relatives. He leaves behind to carry on his outstanding legacy his two beautiful and valiant daughters Mrs. Stacy R. Jones (Walter) and Ms. Tiffany M. Russell (Justus) of Pleasant Grove, Alabama. An adoring son Carlos D. Adams of North, Carolina. The Royal Court of grandchildren that meant the world to him, granddaughters: his beloved Queen Victoria R. Lewis (Alex), of Atlanta, Ga. Empress Taylor Lauren Merriweather, Princess Ahalivia Gabrielle Russell, Countess Ashlynn Renae Davidson, and Little Lady Alexus A.Johnson Grandsons: Duke David A. Russell, Esquire Freddie Merriweather Jr. (Leiaha) and Master Prince Antonio Tre Russell Great-Grands: Adorable Duchess Brielle Marie Merriweather and Lord in Waiting Baby Ace Amir Lewis Two dedicated brothers Joseph Williams, and Toby Earl Russell, a loving sister Priscilla Ann Russell (Thin) Special Nephews Carlos D. Adams, Brion Russell (Karen) Chris Russell(Andrea), Anthony Knight, John Foreman, Carlos Coleman, and Justin Swinton. Special Nieces, Sherri Williams Collins , Melissa Lott, Kim Williams,, Elaine Snider, ( Daryl) Calandra Ervin, Darielle Snider and Calandra Foreman Four sisters in Law Lois F. Bangs, Carolyn Robertson(Leon), Geneva Foreman and Carolyn Williams, A devoted Godsister Mrs. Rosetta Haze, a host of grandnieces, grand nephews, and cousins.
