James Lewis Kellogg, affectionately known as "Jim Dandy", was born September 4, 1939, to the late Ms. Geneva Thompson in Cobb County, Georgia. At an early age, he confessed his life to Christ and later moved to Birmingham, AL. where he joined the United States Army at the age of 29. He received many medals of honor to include Good Conduct, Marksman of Rifle (N-14), Sharpshooter (Pistol 45), and Army of Occupational (Berlin). While serving he received his GED. After service, he worked at Stockholm Valves and Fittings for 10 years. James later moved to his beloved Ackworth, Georgia , where he worked at Qualico Casting for many years. He had an extreme love for his family, cars, dancing, and music with one of his favorite hits, "Got to Give it Up", by Marvin Gaye. He was a beloved member at the Zion Hill Missionary Baptist Church in Acworth, Georgia, under the leadership of Pastor Frank Johnson, where he was their favorite doorkeeper. All who knew him, loved him. He fulfilled his mission on Earth on Wednesday, February 16, 2022, at the VA Hospital in Birmingham, AL. Jim Dandy made his transition and united with his predeceased loved ones: his wife of 33 years, Lois Jean Kellogg; his mother, Geneva Kellogg; Terry Thompson; his grandsons, Monterio and Mondrelle Kellogg; and his brother, Roy Marchman. He leaves to honor and cherish his memories, Children: Donna Kellogg, LaToya (Eric) Carey, Melanie Soloman, Janice (Tim) Houston, Allison Gilchrist, Beverly Scrutchins, Gail Scrutchins and Jeffrey and Greggory Soloman; Grandchildren: Sevyn Carey, Carij'on Carey and Dajah Scrutchins; Great-grandchildren: Aliyah Davis and King Dawson Kellogg; Siblings: Theresa (Theory) Peebles, Pamela Thompson, Diane (Vonte) Arrington, Doris Callahan Maxine Moore, Ray Thompson, Randy Thompson, and Willie James Thompson; Special friend, Barbara Ballenger, and a host of nieces, great-nephews other relatives and friends.
