Obituary
Jimmie Teresa Byrd Smoot was born in November 4, 1927 to Cap Byrd and Golden Payne in Sumpter County, Al. She was the oldest of three children.
She attended school in Sumpter County, and furthered her education by becoming a licensed Cosmetologist. She also worked in dietary at a nursing home.
She accepted Christ at an early age and joined Soul Chapel Baptist Church in Geiger, Alabama and then later joined Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Brighton, Al under Rev. J. D. Daniels.
She married John M. Smoot in 1945 and moved to Fairfield, Alabama. To this union one child was born but several were reared, including one adopted son Rickey Smoot.
She was preceded in death by her parents, sister and husband.
She is survived by her daughters, Bessie L. Roby, Clara Dunning; Adopted children Rickey Smoot, JuNias Smoot, Jakeria A. Smoot; Sons John M. Smoot (Annie), Albert R. Smoot (Mary) and Sandy A. Smoot.
A host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, one great-great-great grandchild and many other relatives and friends.
