Lessie Frances Pennington was born on October 27, 1938 in Magnolia, North Carolina to
the late Obediah Williams and Mary Anna Williams.
In the late 1950's, she moved to New York where she met the late
Charles Pennington. They were married on January 25, 1962.
She worked for the United States Postal service until her retirement in the 1990's. Upon
retirement, she moved to Birmingham, Alabama with Charles.
Lessie confessed Christ at an early age and when she moved to Birmingham, she joined
Bethel Baptist Church where she was an active member and joined the Choir.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Pennington; siblings: Arletha Bryant, Willie Mae Spearman, Howard
Williams, Angie McLaurin, and James Williams and her stepson, Kenneth Pennington.
Lessie Pennington leaves to mourn her passing: Daughters-Demetria Pennington (Gerald
Thompson), Francesca Pennington (Rakim Washington) and Katrina Pennington (like a
daughter); Zestia Camacho (Goddaughter); Daughter-in-law Remonia Pennington; Sisters-
Barbara Ann Boney and Geneva Bostic; 7 Grandchildren-Cornell Pennington (Lavette
Elliot), Shaun Pennington (Shimeeka Pennington), Kendra Pennington (Abraham Nyameh),
Diarra Thompson, Jalen Washington, Tamir Washington, and Isaiah Thompson; and a host
of nieces, nephews, great-grandchildren, cousins, friends, and loved ones.
