Lizzie Colvin Obituary

Lizzie Mae Manuel Colvin was born July 6, 1941 to Belle Manuel and George B. Watson in Boligee, Alabama. She was a graduate of Hooper City High School (Birmingham, AL). After high school, Lizzie worked as a dental assistant for Dr. Joel Boykins, DMD. After a brief retirement, she ventured into retail at J.B.’s House of Fashion.

Lizzie confessed Christ at an early age and joined the First Baptist Church of Hooper City under the leadership of Rev. H. L. Wilson. Lizzie was a faithful servant of the Lord. If the church doors were open and she was able to attend, then she would be in the Lord’s House. Through the course of her life, she used her gift of service in various ways. Some of which included, singing in choir, teaching Sunday School, usher board, and missionary groups. She would use these gifts at Bethel Baptist Church (Collegeville), First Baptist Church of Acipco and Bethel Baptist Church, Berney Points. In 2010, Lizzie joined South Elyton Baptist Church where she would faithfully attend until health declined.

Lizzie Mae was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, who will forever be remembered for her smile and warm, friendly personality. Not only was kind and greeted everyone with a smile, but she also had a godly work ethic.  She loved to be around people, and she loved her family until the Lord called her home on December 27, 2020.

Lizzie was preceded in death by her husband, Lenair Colvin; mother and father; sister, Mamie Davidson; brothers, Howard Brown, and Jessie Manuel.

To cherish her memory she leaves a daughter, Kewanna Colvin-Mickens (Michael); special daughter, Sakina Robinson (Oliver); stepson, Joseph (Yvonne) Colvin; stepdaughter, Lenairria Colvin-Creer; sisters Mattie R. Bishop and Martha Ervin, all of Birmingham, AL and one brother, James Manuel (Louvenia) of Los Angeles, CA; granddaughters Kezia Camille Mickens, Michal Bethany Mickens, Amanda Brown (Chalankis), Oliver L.
