Steward James Hawkins, Sr. Obituary

Steward James Myles Hawkins Sr. was born to the late Mr.&Mrs. Nathaniel Hawkins Sr. in Flat Creek Alabama on April 22,1942. James confessed Christ at an early age and made Coppins Chapel A.M.E. Church his home until his transition.

James was very passionate about education. James graduated from Dora High School Class of 1961. James also received several trade and College degrees in Accounting, Welding, and Electrical after finishing his services in The United States Army. James served in the Vietnam War and received honorable discharge.

James started a career as a Coal Miner and worked at Segeco Mines , Mary Lee #1 & #2, and retired from Shoal Creek Mines(Drummond Coal Company) after serving 32 years.

James served as Steward at Coppins Chapel A.M.E. Church all of his life. James was dedicated to Coppins Chapel and made sure that everything was handled in order. James attended The Annual A.M.E. Conference every year and made sure other members attended as well. James worshipped with other Churches in the Community faithfully. James also shared his knowledge and wisdom of GOD and it showed upon him.

If you ever spoked with James this year, you would know his favorite saying” I Love You and GOD loves YOU too.

James was preceded in death by his father and mother, two Sisters and  six brothers.

James leaves to honor and cherish wonderful memories of 53 years Erma J.Hawkins, three sons

James G. Hawkins, Frank C. Hawkins(Alma ),James M.Hawkins Jr. (JeToya). Two daughters: Blenda Marie Simmons (James) and Jean Letrease Johnson (Marc)

15 Wonderful Grandkids in his eyes: Ashley, Kalah ,Jerica,XXavier,Cierra ,Jorian,Kennedi,Alexa,Jaida,Farrah,Kobe,Justin,Jordan,Kassidy and Broc (his main man)

Six Great Grands; Adden,Kenley,Isiaiah,Allysen,Aubrii, and Myla 

Two brothers : William Hawkins and Curtis J. Hawkins

Five Sisters: Corine Brooks,Wilma James,Augusta Jones, Myrtle Hawkins, Mary G. Hawkins

Special Love Ones : Rev. Manasseh Hawkins and Jernevia Harris 

And a host of  nieces, nephews, sisters-in law, brothers-in laws, cousins, and friends .
