Van Derek Foster, 57, of Birmingham, AL, passed away on April 18, 2024, at his Huntsville residence. He was born on December 23, 1966, in Birmingham, AL to the late Mattie Pearl Foster. He owned Good Ol’ Boys LLC, a general construction company, and was enrolled at Drake State Community & Technical College upon his death.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Ms. Mattie Pearl; his aunt, Ms. Marinda Thomas; his brothers Mr. Tarence, Mr. Emery, and Mr. Jeffrey Foster; and cousin, Mr. Frederick Foster.
Van is survived by his doting family, led by his five children: his son VanDerek Foster, Jr. and his four daughters, Taylor Armer, Patrice Tolbert, Sydney Armer-Austin (David), and Vandyia Brazzill; his brother, Roderick (Bonderia) Foster; two cousins, Winston Foster (Maribel) and Reginald Foster (Sylvia); five grandchildren and special friend LaTonya Wright. He is also survived by his beloved nieces and nephews, cousins, friends, peers, and associates.
Services will be held at Brooks Family Funeral Home in Hueytown, AL., on Saturday, May 4 at 10 a.m. followed by a memorial celebration at the Fountain Heights Recreational Center and Park.
