Zetarius Darnell Free

Zetarius Darnell Free was born on January 17, 2001, in Birmingham, Alabama, where he passed away at the age of 23 on Saturday, June 8, 2024.  At the tender age of 3, Zetarius was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive kidney cancer. Against the odds, and with the support of his loving family, he overcame this early challenge, demonstrating the resilience and courage that defined his life. Zetarius attended Huffman High School and pursued a career in the logistics industry, primarily with FedEx. He was known for his remarkable sense of humor and passion for rapping. Zetarius was a devoted father to three young children: Zeki (3), Zymere (2), and Adore (1). He is deeply mourned by his mother, Kimberly Free (John Henry Jr.) of Birmingham, and his father, Larrie King (Keyana) of Autaugaville. He is survived by his siblings, William, Mariah, and Larnell Free, and was a cherished uncle to Zamari (Mariah) and Cartier (William). He shared a particularly close bond with his brothers and considered his sister, Mariah, his best friend. He also leaves behind two half-siblings, Asia and Xavier King, and step-siblings Sherita Henry, Tranijah Hammond, Mariah Moore, Jalen Henry, Keonte Poe, and Keundre Woodard. He was the beloved grandson of William and Zeta Free, and Barbara King, and the nephew of Charlene White (Henry), Sherry Moore, Virginia Watts (Quinton), Tera Nicole Free, and Autumn Free. Zetarius shared a special bond with his first cousins, Vicktorea Free (Autumn), Destin King, Javori Moore, Chelsi Moore (Sherry), Reggenia Sturdivant, Reginald Sturdivant Jr., Paris Sturdivant (Charlene), Kaliph King, Kyla Ross, and Kadin Davis (Virginia).  Zetarius was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Larrie King Sr., and his great-grandmothers, Christine McDaniel, Eryne Scott, and Essie Mae Parker.  Zetarius's strength, humor, and love will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
